The Tabitha Society is a group of individuals who wish to show God's love
to others through knitting an crocheting. The Tabitha Society is founded
on Acts 9 where you will find the story of how God raised Tabitha (Dorcas) from
the dead through Peter.
The
members of the Tabitha Society choose a project that they would like to make to
give to others in need. There is a list of suggestions but you are
open to choose any project that you feel the Lord is leading you to make.
The most important thing for each of us to do is to pray for the person who will
be receiving the item. Some of the organizations and people who have
benefited from the Tabitha Society in the pat year are Bethany Nursing Home,
Eventide Nursing Home, First Choice Pregnancy Clinic, Cancer patients though the
Moorhead Adult Education Center, babies at MeritCare Hospital & Innovis
Hospital, children through Tom's Coats for Kids and at Nokomis Child Care
Center, a church and orphanage in Lithuania through a short term mission
project, selected members of the congregation, children in third world countries
through a Guidepost project, among others.
The Tabitha Society is open to anyone who wishes to
participate. We encourage anyone from beginners to those who are a little
rusty in their needlework skills. Lessons are available for anyone who
wishes to learn to knit or crochet. We hold meetings on the third Saturday
of every month at 10:00 am in the James room at the Moorhead church. At these
meeting we have a short Bible reading, a time of prayer, we work on our projects
together, have coffee and fellowship. You do not have to attend the
meeting to participate in the Tabitha Society.
If you wish to donate your projects yourself, you are free
to do so. If, however, you wish to bring your projects to the meetings that is
fine. Someone will distribute them in the name of the Tabitha Society.
